The FIG Tree News is a newsletter for genealogy researchers of the Fenton family name from all over the world. The newsletter was started in February 1994, but was suspended in July of 2000 due to a busy life with two teenagers. Now that they have both graduated, I am hoping to be able to spend more time on the website (thus the new look website).
We want to be able to provide a single place for the researcher of the Fenton family name all over the world to come and interact with other researchers of the same name. I have the following tools available:
-
Databases - I currently maintain three databases of Fenton lines. Only one of those lines are directly related to me. I would be willing to put more databases on-line if users would submit their information to me.
-
Forums - We created forums that allows users to to communicate their genealogy interests with others. You can read the forums without being a registered user, but you must register in order to post to the forums. We currently have the following forums (and more can be created if there is an interest):
* General Information - Learn general information about The FIG Tree News and the rules and regulations for a happy experience on the forums.* Genealogy 101 - Ask general questions about how to improve your genealogy research.* Genealogy Software Reviews - Learn and share your experiences on the various genealogy software programs that are available. Give your pros and cons for a program to help other users decide what will work best for them.* Inquiries - Read and post inquires about your Fenton line.* Obituaries - Post obituaries for Fenton family members or Fenton researchers.* Photos - Add your favorite Fenton family images here to share with other Fenton researchers.
-
Fenton Links - Links to other websites that specialize in Fenton research
-
General Links - Links to other websites for genealogy research
-
Newsletter Articles - All articles that were published from February 1994 to July 2000
-
On-Line Family Trees - This is you can put your GEDCOMs to share with others and update the information on-line.
-
Photos - A group of Fenton family photos that have been shared with me
-
Software Links - Links to other genealogy software websites
With this change in software it should allow us to be more flexible and allow users to have more input directly on the website. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I believe this is a great improvement and no researcher can truely work only on their own. We all need help from someone at one time or another.
